SWEET. codes aside, I find all the discussion about toasted turbos versus mild boxes very interesting a curious at the same time. It seems that some are afraid of the TST's power and express interest in a milder box -- as if fingers are not capable of touching the TST remote. Its like people want to limit themselves. Why not dial the TST into what ever you want, and then put the remote where you can't touch it?

Careful adjustment of the TST box, it seems to me, will make it perform as mild as any other box on the planet and still give EGT based defuling, more low end grunt than a Ramifier, towing performance second to none and no fuel pressure increase. This is a box that can morph into any performance and EGT scenario you want, and do it better than any other box currently on the market (my opinion of course, based on the use of timing and duration instead of pressure).

guys talk about making the power come in smooth and how cool it is to manipulate the fueling curve via various methods of inserting fuel pressure error. Not to discount all those methods, mind you, particularly VA and TS have made real contributions to the pressure box industry. I'm just saying that the stock fueling curve isn't that bad and that if you want to ratchet things up a notch, why not TST?

so far the only problem I see with the TST is that you can't spend more money to upgrade it

Reading about the toasted turbo's kinda turned me off to the TST for a little, but reading the posts over again, it seems as though the turbo's are going because the drivers are allowing the boost to get too high, and then blaming it on the box for "allowing" enough fuel for the turbo to spool up so much?!? Not sure if that's the truth, just what I got from reading.

If that's the case and the code issues are being worked out I'm gonna go with the TST, and run it on low levels (something comparable to the EZ) until I upgrade the fuel, turbo, and transmission.

Anyone care to comment on why a few turbo's are going out?

I have been running on level 4/4 and It is very nice, power comes on very smooth and egts are WELL within the 1250* i set for the defueling...

I agree that it is hard not to leave it on level 7/7 or 8/8... but my turbo with stock elbow would peak at like 38 lbs, and then drop, not good with me, that stocker turbo spools way too fast for its own good, IMO

CYA

I believe DLeno is right on with that statement. I towed with mine yesterday andit was a pure pleasure. I was pulling 12 cows at an average of 1100 lbs each in a 24 foot trailer. You can add it up but I was slightly over weight. I left the box on setting 3:3 because I didn't want any heat trouble. Keep in mind I have a 250 hp SO engine as well. The one grade I pulled is about 1 mile of 5. 5% and I pulled onto the highway right at the bottom of it. I hit the bottom at about 40 and was able to pull up to 58 mph (in direct, 4th gear) before I got to the steepest part and held that speed right to the top. Even with the exhaust brake the load pushed me down the back side a bit. The max boost I saw was 33 psi and max egt was 1050°.

I can't put numbers to that power level but it was a little more than I had with my 215 pump 12 valve and a #11 plate. Just shy of 300 hp? Definitely a satisfactory performance as far as I'm concerned.

TST box

Only problem I see with the TST box is its already maxed out, which it is awesome in power that can even all be tapped into yet, the aftermarket will help that, but Edges new box will also stack with their pressure box, for evener greater power, I called edge a couple of days ago and asked some questions and thats what they told me. both I'm sure will be great boxes, just need the aftermarket to step up. :)

TST can stack with any pressure box. that is, there is no magic (other than one mfg tests them together) in matching manufacturers -- pressure boxes and TST are dissimilar and will compliement each other if you really want to do that.

keep in mind that the TST already taxes the low pressure fuel system and that stacking with a pressure box only makes that worse. so if your'e committed to upgrading your fuel system an twin turbos or whatever air is requried to support pressure AND duration, then by all means stack away.

Ramifier has already been stacked with the TST, and I would expect any pressure box to do well at it, including the EZ. One benefit of this is that the pressure box controls the fuel pressure curve and the TST just adds duration. So make sure that the pressure box is the one doing the boost fooling and all should be fine.

If you're committed to both pressure and duration, I would choose the pressure box based on its fuel curve, not on its brand name. Edge has to make a market contribution in order to make up for their late intro. I mean more of a contribution than no codes. so I would look for a bell or a whistle over the TST perhaps.

I went to Edges site and even posted a couple of questions there, and what is going on is NOTHING!!!! I really like my edge EZ, but don't expect any answers from them if you post any questions on thier sites. I know... . I know call them... I can do that, but why even have the forums on the site then?, just flash the words "Call us" and don't let anyone post anything there.

I am sure they will make a great box, but lips are sealed about actual dates, so how do we even know if it will ever come out???? I think the TST is a great box for performance, but I really don't like the look of the controller. If someone made a decal overlay that would make the controller match the rams interior alittle better then I bet everyone with the TST would be grabbing it.
