Competition Has anyone tried advancing the camshaft timing?

Competition S&R Diesel Concepts Pull Franklin, Indiana RESULTS AND VIDEO!

i think it is 2. 55 what turbo do you have. i used an II sps62 i did pretty good with it in the street class. i think a 62mm turbo is your best bet, if you step up to the next class GOOD LUCK!!!! there are 2 guys who rule that class around here Jeremy Straley and Kyle Michaels

Well, it looks like a sps64 will pass tech then. Its going on a 98 with 181dv, 5x25 injectors, 4. 5k gov springs, and a full billet transmission by hts with a 2100 stall speed convertor. Was just wanting to be able to pull in the eep street 2. 5 class and the dhra street 2. 8. Any thoughts? Waste of time and money?(I already know the answer to that last one).

a set of laser dv's would be a good investment and do you have your timing advanced. check out my vid, mine was a 98 12 valve 5speed. i was making 70lbs of boost and lanched at 4000rpm. i think if your able to run a 64 you wont have any problems winning the street class. they will tech it if you place in the money. i don't think you will do very good in the DHRA pulls they allow reducers , which allows guys to run large unstreetable turbos. i would concentrate on the EEP pulls and clean house, the payouts are just as good as DHRA and the rules are alot better. if you ever need any help let me know i sold my truck but i still have alot of the tools and know how. are you going to pull at london here in a couple of weeks it is a pretty good pull and lots of trucks

The timing is set at 17*. What is everyone running for tires, and a good hitch height to start at (the truck is a regular cab). I'm not sure that the truck will be done for for London.

i ran 18* of timing, but it should have been 26-30*. i was running 315 bfg all-terrains and if you can afford 2 sets have a set of mud terrains for loose tracks. i had my hitch at 24". you better have a set of traction bars and a set of suspension travel blocks or your going to learn an expensive lesson. i had a set of blocks machined that were exactly 2in from the frame with the weights on the front and they bolted in place of the factory bump stops, pretty much a solid suspension
