I've had the Smarty S67 on my truck since last September. I have no complaints about the Smarty.

Since EFI Live has been out I've been reading nothing but good about it so i invested in a Flashscan V2 (a bit overkill for some, but I want to learn to tune myself).

I finally switched to EFI Live this morning and it is amazing the difference between the two. I had a professional tuner do my tune. It's roughly 50-60hp made for light towing and mpg.

Very smooth and responsive power compared to the Smarty. I don't know how else to describe the difference other than that. I'm in Houston this week and it's been raining constantly so I haven't been able to "get on it" so I can't compare that aspect. But thus far I am very happy.

Once I get a mpg report, I'll post up.

But so far, I'd highly recommend it for anyone as it can be done for stock trucks or those without the fuel economy hindering equipment onboard.

I have an Autocal from Zach's tuning (Starlite Diesel). I'm using 50-60hp tune (mileage tune) and my truck drives so much better with the tuning.

It's tuning software. You or a tuner adjusts parameters that you then load into the ECM. Kind of like a programmer, only much more than just a programmer.

This is an old thread I am pulling up........but it looks like you still have the 2008. Just wondering if you are still using the EFI live and if so how do you like after a few years?

Been running EFILive for @10K miles with all of the EPA crap intact. It's a night and day difference from the stock tune, the CP5 switch is nice, allowing you to change 5 different tunes on the fly. However I don't trust myself to self tune it, that's why I bought the autocal and have an experianced tuner tune it. There's a lot that can happen if you tune it wrong, and can get expensive.

So what are your 5 tunes? Did it improve fuel mileage?

According to the tuner 1)Enhanced stock 2)Heavy tow 3)Light tow 4)MPG 5)Performance tune.

I have used only the number 1 & 5 tunes, so far. I do run at 15K GCW and 23K GCW at times but once or twice a year. I only have 65K miles on my 07.

On edit, my MPG is poor no matter what tune, my empty weight is over 10K.

I'm pleased with the improvement with my Anarchy tuner w/CPS5. I drive it cold on #3,then #4-5 the rest of the day taking it easy.
Smarty's plenty powerful, but EFI smooths out the acceleration more like my 24v. No more flat spot depressing the pedal under load. EGT's are very safe.

Thanks for the updates! Any more EFI Live reports? I am considering deleates. I don't want to tear anything up. I also don't want to spend $$$$ on a plugged turbo and other emission problems.

Is it a one tune installed, or are you running the CSP5? Your tune/tunes can be changed, but you should make sure you dyno the tune/tunes, if doing it yourself, or have an experienced tuner change it for you. The capability of EFILive is the best for tuning, espeacily if deleted.

I'm running a csp5 switch. I am in talk with my tuner to get an auto cal from him. Right now to update tunes i have to drive 2hrs west to get to the shop and that makes it hard to do during the week. We have discussed leaving the tunes the way they are on the top end and turn up throttle response and low end boost to see if that helps with the low end a little.
