Picked on a FORD 6. 0. A work truck with old tires in the bed. 2wd srw auto 6. 0. Ran him from a red-light. BLEW ME AWAY by 3 truck lengths to the next red light and he was stock. NO smoke,had red dirt all over it. IT was FASTER!

Must have been an auto. . and probably with higher gears... I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I've said this a lot, and we've heard it a lot. A V-8 will rev better and make more horsepower. Put an auto behind it, and it will be pretty quick. An auto behind the Cummins would even the field a bit. But apples to apples, a v-8 is generally a faster engine. If you soup yours up, you could beat it. If he soups his up just as much, he'll beat you again.



BUT, put a trailer behind it and fu-git-abou-it! All bets are off, because a straight six is a torque plant So, don't worry about it.

It was a automatic and I assume 3. 73 or so gears. It was from a roll after light turned green. When I hit third there was a brief moment I started closing ground on him and then he started pulling away again. MINE LOOKED better but he walked the dog!

He may have had more than meets the eye... as many of us that bomb our truck... the ferd and chebbie guys do to.



Anyways... I'll quote what I;ve heard a few folks say here "Ask the ferd or chebbie guy how their trucks are doing at 300,000". Of course by then you'll have the same truck and they'll be on truck# 3.

Dad's Isuzumax is bombed and doesn't smoke. His is automatic too, no way I could keep up with him in a light to light dragrace. I can't shift the 5600 anywhere near as fast as that Allison.

Heck, a Kia Spectra with an automatic could probably pull me until I get in 4th or 5th gear! NV5600's ain't a drag racing transmission, and especially with the 4. 10's, all I'm doing up to 40 MPH or so is rowing the shift lever.

When I use to drag race everytime I won a race the other guy would always have an excuse. I had deeper gears I was lighter by 20 lbs. If he had better traction etc etc. I recall only a few people just admitting I was faster and left it at that.

Read some of my previous posts. I too was spanked by a stock ford. Heck we were both pulling trailers at that!!They are powerful!

Looking at your sig its no wonder you got beat, your truck must weigh an easy ton more.

not to mention it's stock. Get a box or get over it. I assume it must have bothered you to have to post about it. TST and a Turbo would put him in your rearview. Go big or go home.

Unless your modified, I'd stay away from 2wd, regular cab PS's. That is a light truck compared to ours.

I've insulted a few crew-cab duallys with the 6. 0, and even some d-max's, but they can be quick with the auto.

Any brand with an auto will cream the other brand with a six stop light to stop light. Unless you have MUCH more power than the auto and make a 3rd gear start.

They are powerfull but longevity is why I got a Cummins

It would have been interesting to see what a 2wd srw auto 600 CTD would have done.

While he was keeping his foot mashed to the floor you were letting off the go pedal and disengaging the trans for a shift plus lugging way more weight.

Guys, just buy the SRT10 and forget about it!! If you want speed, don't buy a diesel one ton, buy something built for speed, my Hayabusa will put everything to shame when I want to make anyone feel slow.
