Looking at the components for the EGR system, and I am wondering what function each of the valves have. I see that the system is liquid cooled coming out of the main engine exhaust in two places (fwd and aft ends). On the forward end of the exhaust manifold/EGR there is a motorized valve that uses a push-pull cable system that opens and closes a butterfly valve. From here the gases travel vis transfer tube around to the intake side of the engine. Here there is another motorized valve attached directly to the intake. I assume that this valve is the one that controls the volume of spent gases entering the intake. Up to a 25% depending on engine operation and rpm, from what I have read, also it has to be removed and cleaned after so many miles, REF. Owners Manual.

Can anyone help explain this process and functioning of the valve's more on the technical aspect.

I have purchased a service manual and it is on its way, but still waiting.

Thanks
