EGR Crossover Plug

Can I use an EGR crossover plug to stop exhaust flow to the EGR and leave everything mounted and hooked up to effectively delete the EGR? By leaving the EGR hooked up I should not throw a code correct? Just thinking right now and this sounds like it should work.

Temp sensor will pick up no change in the intake-EVERYTHING is monitored

Tried it already, it threw a code! Just pull the harness at the valve it will throw a code but you can plug it back in later.
