Three trucks have come trought our shop with serious engige damage cause by EGR valves. On one, the EGR valve stuck open and build up so much carbon in the intake to the point where the intake valves are sticking open and engine misses and heavy white smoke all the time. The other two had a knock. The EGR valve seat broke and end it in the cylinder. One was lucky, only a piston damage but the other was not, three pistons damage and two cylinder walls scratch. NO WARRANTY over 100k on each one. Ck those EGRs, use a vacuum pump to move the valve and ck its condition.
