Hey do all of the 2003 3rd gen's have egr?. . I thought they all did and then I read that they were delaying the egr. Whats the scoop? If they do have egr what have you guys run into on the intake side with soot build up? If the crank case vent is not vented to the atmosphere, then the carbon will mix with the oil vapor and make a sludge like build up in the intake. On our tdis we have vented to CCV (crank case vent) to the atmosphere and they have egr disable kits now , on my car at 1000miles I vented the ccv from the pretubo intake track to the ground, and at 45k miles no sludge, just carbon is building up. So I'm removing the egr with a bypass pipe. What have you guys seen any trucks thta were apart, to see what its producing etc. I'm interested to know. If the 2003's don't have egr until 2004, that would be reason to get a 2003 now with out the egr. . later.

Rabbit, please slow down the typing so the letters get hit in the right order or proofread before you post. It was hard to understand what you were asking through all the typos.

EGR is next year. The latest TDR magazine says it won't have the problem with oil vapor mixing with the exhaust gases and creating sludge in the intake. I imagine someone will come up with an EGR disabling device/method soon after the EGR version comes out.

I've read a lot of bad comments about EGR valves but look at it this way, gas engines have had them for two decades and have no more trouble with build up then their pre EGR predecessors. :D

Gas engines burn a lot cleaner than our smokers. Guess EGR will be a good case for Power Service or Pyroil (or the like). A friend of mine in OK has CTD and diesel VW-has had a LOT of probs with the VW EGR. Advised me to by now and avoid the EGR in '04 or '05
