EGR leak, diesel smell in the cab.

I bought the truck new on 6/17. On 7/1 started smelling diesel in the cab, popped the hood and saw soot on the ERG tube. The dealer replaced both

EGR tube gaskets. I drove the truck this morning, and am still gettting strong diesel smell in the cab. The truck runs great. Any Ideas? My dealer is Power,in PHX. My work truck is a Ford with the 7. 3 Powerstroke, and it has never had a this problem.

EGR tube

They are going to replace the EGR tube, when it gets in. We'll see.

The EGR tube was replaced today. NO more diesel smell, all seems to be well.

I used to own a group of ford 7. 3 L power strokes... . look for expensive injector problems to start between 75 and 85K miles... and to continue until you get rid of the truck..... I've had that problem on my last 3..... the last a F550 is going when the new 5500 arrives

Jelag: We have 2 of the 7. 3s in our company, and so far have had no problems like you describe. The one I drive has the lowest odometer, of 145k.

sometimes the bellows on the egr tube develops small pin holes, or even big holes, i see that alot on the ISM engines with egr. they are a real PIA, the bellows in built into the egr cooler, gets expensive when you develop a leak at the bellows to fix, you got to replace the entire cooler. i wish they had the same design as the ISX, the bellows can be replaced seperate from the cooler. good to hear everything is fixed.
