EGR Mod - De-tunes Engine?

Hi All,

Does the EGR mod detune the engine at all? I read reports of advance problems ('knocking') when you leave the plug disconnected. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Defeating the EGR (electronically) on our Liberty CRD makes it run better with about 2mph improvement. Having a 6. 7 without the egr and dpf/cat would be a sweet ride indeed.
