2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Paint question?

I had converted to rear disc brakes a few weeks ago. I am still having a problem with getting the parking brake to work properly. The instructions did not show any pictures of the best way to route the cable. On the driver side I had to loop the cable back over the axle and back around and into the park brake bracket. The cable tube hits the bottom of the axle and I can't get it to stay flush with the angle plate. The cable rubs against the tube on the caliper side. The passenger side is a little better but there is still an alignment problem with that side. The end of the cable is walking half cocked out of the brake arm. Does anyone have the same year truck as mine who has done this conversion?? If so I would like to see a picture of what you did. Thanks

Is the parking brake dragging a bit? Sounds like the cable routing has a huge part in this one as that sounds like a sharp bend in the cable which will bind it up. Would it help to see an 02 or 01. 5 picture?

I called EGR this morning. It seems that the cable had to be looped up next to the leaf spring and held in place with a tie strap. I had to grind down the drilled guide plate which holds the cable support. EGR also told me that many others had the cable guide tube welded to the support bracket. Then install a guide washer to keep the cable center. This part of the conversion was a real pain! I have the cable set in a good spot but still can not get equal tension between both sides. The slack adjustment on the cable is a poor system. My year truck uses the drivers side cable to increase the tension. It seems to favor one side over the other. I am thinking of replacing the passenger cable with a 2 piece unit that I can put my own T shaped adjustment bar in like the old style used on other trucks.

Your rear paking brake arm is not the same as mine. You have a spring between the arm and stop that is in with the cable. Mine has the return spring coiled over the caliper. I wish mine looked like yours. That extra bracket for your spring keeps the cable locked in place. I'll get mine right yet. just need a warm sunny day to experiment. By the way, how did you get those great pictures on this thread?? I tried to upload one and it told me there was not enough room???
