It has wings... fly... fly away ugly birdie...

To bad that is the trend nowdays, cover more and more of the engine compartments with big sheets of black molded plastic.

All of the high end automobiles now have engine shrouds. Look under the hood of a Mercedes-Benz S-Class and all you see is plastic shroud.

Unlike Dodge truck owners, S-Class owners usually don't even know where the hood release is...

Still looks alot cleaner than Duramax or Powerstroke engine compartments! At least you can still see the engine!

All those hoses, pipes, and cannisters on the Durapads and Powercroaks look like future leaks and mechanical problems just waiting to happen someday.

Simple is better! If you don't like the plastic wings then take 'em off and it'll look like the 6. 7L in the Chassis-Cab models!

If I paid $185000. 00us for an S SMG I woud not CARE where the latch was :-laf

Fred

Yes, Fred, the affordable S-Class should be "care free". BUT, when you get to the real upper end, some visible engine should be displayed.

That's okay... the new Lexus LS460 has engine covers on the top AND the bottom! And it'll parallel park itself if you're a bad driver, tell you you're thin and sexy when a sensor in the driver's seat exceeds a certain weight limit, etc, etc. :-laf :-laf :-laf
