Egr?

My exhaust has very little air coming out the muffler, but something opens up the flow sometimes and really it will start blowing hard. When this "flap"opens, it has alot more power.

Is this the EGR?

I really enjoy the truck when it is in this mode, but it does't last long.

Greg, your not specific enough for us to help... could it be that you have the exhaust brake on... and its making a gurgling sound from the back pressure of the exhaust brake??

It only has 3200 miles and it has done this from day one. When it goes into this mode, the engine intake will sound deeper, turbo is louder, more responsive and alot more power. Also the exhaust will start blowing hard as if I had an aftermarket exhaust installed (turbo back free flowing). When it is running normal, I can hold my hand on the tail pipe and hardly any exhaust is coming out. Kinda like a flap somewhere in the exhaust pipe controlling the exhaust.

Sounds like your EB is kicking on to help the engine warm up. this will make the turbo louder at idle and cause it to sound like its flowing more air through the exhaust

Sounds like it could be the EGR and the intake valve, aka throttle body closing.



When the intake throttle valve is fully open, there is very little air coming out of the engine, however, when it opens the engine flows alot more air...
