I have bought and installed EGT and Boost gauges in my 99 4x4, since I am towing 5th wheel heavy.

Would like to know what the guidlines are for reading. . I only know that they are important gauges, but would appreciate inputs as to how to interpret the readings and understand the precautions to take. . thanks. Marve

Your boost guage is going to be a measure of your turbo boost. More PSI = more pressure thus more power:D (and less MPG). How much is dependent on what truck/mods you have. What is important to watch? A decrease in boost could indicate a leaking or cracked exhaust system, loose turbo hose or simply a dirty air filter. EGT (hopefully you installed it pre-turbo) will indicate to you when things will start to melt:rolleyes: . After you put the truck out of gear, it should drop to around 350 or so. Anything around 300 to 350 is safe to shut the truck off. Anything higher than 400 or 450 could do damge to the turbo. Towing, you will likely see continous temps of 650 to 800, no problems. Climbing, try to keep it below 1250 or so, although you'll hear alot of:-{} over this, right in that ballpark is where you want to be. Anything above 1350 could get expensive, and I don't have the $$$ to play with.
