Well I've recently done quite a few mods to my truck, including an Edge EZ set on setting 4 (5 and 6 don't work on my newer EZ), afe, 4" ATS complete exhaust, and ATS transmission stuff. The truck haul a$$. I drive it pretty hard, and was checking out the max temps/boost my xmonitor has recorded since installed - 36. 6psi of boost  and only 1050* EGT. This is of course pre turbo mounted on the exhaust manifold. Just curious what others are getting as far as EGTs and max boost.

edit - I haven't towed with the xmonitor yet, so I don't know what the numbers will look like towing. I do live in the Sierras so I drive up and down 6-10% grades constantly.

I have an EZ, 4" exhaust and an AFE. I hauled the Jeep to Moab from Kansas last labor day. My Gross weight was just under 16K.

I was fine other than the Rockies. I could hit 1300 to 1350 real easy. I ended up driving by the EGT guage. Heading West I got to the top of Vail pass holding 1300* with the throttle, I was doing 64mph in 5th gear.

Howdy Pirate. Sounds like you are dialing your truck in. I live just below Auburn and would like to see/feel a S. O. with Edge to get a baseline for my mods. Any chance of hooking up with you? Thanks,Mark.

SO with EZ

Steve
Sounds great Steve, count me in!Give me a call or whatever. Thanks,Mark.

Likewise here I am located in Roseville at hwy 65 and Washington blvd let me know

I have installed EZ on level 4 4" exhaust afe drop-in intake and pillar mount guages

Pirate, how long did you stick your foot into it? Those seem rather low and I'd think with a grade or running up higher speeds you'll be approaching 1300F or more.

I think the difference is between SO and HO motors I used to hit 1300 before I changed exhaust now I might hit 1100 towing 10000 lbs in overdrive

My 98. 5 would hit 1200 to 1300 when I put my foot in it

03 SO temps surprisingly low so now I am considering injectors

Nice truck ya fat bastad! :flipoff2: You're up on me with the addition of the EZ. In the 99 I had to watch the EGTs with a load on a grade with a power puck. I'd expect similar results as sangell posted, although you don't have as much altitude (thin air) as we do here.

Daytripper, sounds great,im up for coffee, brewsky or just talk truck. Let me know. Cell phone is 916-532-1570. Thanks.

The biggest change in observed EGT will be seen when you actually hook up a decent load to the truck and then hit those same grades - empty or lightly loaded, you simply will not see maximum numbers.

My '02 empty, with the Comp on 5x5 will not exceed 1000 degrees in a long steady pull between Placerville and Pollock Pines - but with the 5th wheel on the same grade, 65 mph in OD with my manual transmission, tops out at 1200 degrees - it will go lots faster - but *I* wont! ;) :D

I really doubt there's a significant difference in operating parameters between the '02 and '03 trucks in that regard...

EGT

I live near Denver and have towed in the Rockies and Sierras. My Egt's are lower in the Sierras. I have the Edge EZ, 4" down and 5" to the rear bumper. I gross at 23K. I get to 1300 deg I-70 at Vail and the west side of the tunnel, 50mph in 5th. The Sierras are no worries. Tbob

We have good size grades here, and they are very long. I have NOT towed any weight with this setup yet. That will change next weekend, and I will be towing over the Tehachapis which is a very long, steep grade. I'll be sure to let you guys know how the EGTs do at that time. Will be towing approximately 10,000lbs...

Tried the EDGE

I had a quality visit with Daytripper yesterday,he was nice enough to come by and install his edge on my truck. Definite improvement! We drove around for a while,as i wanted to get a feel for the performance, and it was noticable. Not to mention we bsed about leveling kits, aftermarket injectors, etc. Thanks again Robert. Stop by after you get your leveling kit on so i can see the difference. As for my box, decisions, decisions!lol. :D

i had the same thing - EZ on lvl 4 - full 4 inch exhaust

and I could not get over 1000 unloaded... 0-90 mph... i think it is the puny SO motors, you think? (to little HP for the boost)

Tomeygun,

Did you use the boost fooler that came with the EZ? I haven't put it on yet and I can get my EGT's up to 1250 with 25 psi boost!

What boost are you getting?

inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks

Steve

I am proud to say that with an empty truck I can hit nearly 1400* wot at 95 mph. DDII's and EZ on level 6 helps a little. DD 5" exhaust and a modified airbox help too... .
