i a'm just about to install a pryometer and boost gauge set was looking for some reference points. i have a 2000 ram 24 valve diesel. any way to get more boost out of it without throwing a engine code.

First off welcome to the TDR.

I don't have gauges yet so not sure on EGT but you should be getting around 21psi boost stock. There are several ways to get more boost by restricting the signal to the wastegate, however it won't do anything for power unless you're adding more fuel with an electronic box and/or bigger injectors. If you're making more boost than stock you need a "boost fooler" electronic module that fools the computer into thinking it's only seeing 21psi, else you will set an overboost code in the ECM.

If you're not aware then be advised you need a fuel pressure gauge for these electronic trucks, the fuel transfer pump is prone to failure and can take out the $$$ VP44 injection pump if not monitored.

Stock EGT

If you have a big enough load on the engine. Like pulling a big grade. Stock EGTs can get quite high. I could push mine to 1400* when it was stock.

My wifes 2001. 5 stock truck can see in excess of 1300* pre turbo and her truck will peak out at 18lbs of boost.

Around town playing aroun though it is really hard to see about 15lbs unless you are WOT.

Hope this helps
