EGT / Boost Guage install options

I am going to purchase a Westach combo guage for my '08 4x4 manual. Do I want the 1/8" NPT or 1/4" NPT sensor, and why?

Geno's told me when I ordered the same gauge to use the 1/8". They didn't say why but It made sense to me to start small, if you mess-up you always go bigger. I am thinking of using the existing tap on the side with a stainless street T. On another site someone else said it works good. Put the egt straight thru the street T into the exhaust manifold.

What are the EGT's needed for shutdown with a reading pre turbo?
