Where I can get a red 24v valve cover cheaper than 118.00?

Jacobsen exhaust brake adjustments?

My dash had to come out for the installation of the new evaporator coil. They did a decent job, but kinked the wire. Most gauges I see have a 1/8 NPT probe. I have to dig my paperwork out, but mine is 7/16 or 1/4 NPT. I'm thinking about upgrading the gauge, but I definitely don't want to mess around with the fitting. Any suggestions on gauges that would work. TIA

Westach's dual combo EGT/boost gauge uses a type K t-couple with either 1/8"NPT or 1/4"NPT threads at the exhaust manifold. I used the 1/4"NPT, but it just so happens that I have a spare type K t-couple in the truck toolbox with 1/8"NPT threads. PM me if you wind up needing it.

Thanks, Rusty. I found a truck place out of Orlando that will get me the entire setup for $136. I wanted to re-route the wire eventually, so now I get to do it. And I'll have a spare probe and gauge just in case. I don't want to mess around with the probe if I don't have to.

How did the kink in the wire kill the gauge ? did the wire brake ? did you try to splice the wire ? I know that some times when other wire diffrent steel, size , etc. will through off the gauge but some times it will make so small a change that it don't matter. I whent to install my pyro and had only the short wire that came with the gauge kit . I hooked up the gauge and did not mount the gauge but watched it under the hood till it idled at about 325 for ten min and did not go higher. Turned off truck waited for motor to cool down four hours ,during that time i spliced a copper 18 ga into the pyro wire with enough to place gauge in piller mount and temp mounted gauge in dash with tape. Started the truck and wated till ten min idle and pointer stoped at 325 let truck idle for tem min more still on 325 . Have used this set up now for almost three years and works fine at any speed . Ron in Metro? Louisville KY:confused:   :D P. S. You can get a adapter for the fitting to reduce the fitting to a smaller size like 1/4 to 1/8 or smaller .

Ron, I have no idea why it may have killed the gauge. When I found out they had to take the dash out, I cringed because I just knew it wasn't going to be the same when they put it back in. My temperature gauges (diff. & transmission) jump 25-40 degrees when I turn on the light switch. That was not an issue before the dash came out. I like working on the truck, but I hate fixing things that weren't broke before somebody else touched the truck. I guess it's a trade-off.

John looks like the guy that did the dash may have reversed the wires on the gauges or did not put the grounds back properly as the senders were not moved or tampered with reverse or bad grounding could cause all the problems . If you have the easy to fallow instructions for the gauges use it to check again on the install. lol Ron in Louisville Metro KY:confused: :D

After I posted I decided to check the ground wire. That was it. I had 5 ground wires connected to one ring connector. I had to re-connect them as they were loose as a result of the dash being out. I forgot to tighten them down completely and to make matters worse, the wires started slipping out. I used two ring connectors this time and tightened the screw the connector is attached to. The gauges are fine, now. I got a new EGT gauge ordered and should have it this week.

EGT gauge is alive and well....

and to top it off, they were able to work it out to where I only had to buy the wire harness. That saved $90. WooHoo.

A big thanks to Frank at Southeast Power Systems of Orlando. I found them via the Internet while doing a search on US Gear equipment. 800-733-6101
