EGT gauge going crazy......

i've got an autometer pro comp ultralite. wed nite it started going crazy. the needle was bouncing uncontrollably under acceleration..... would calm down when i let off the go fast pedal... .



only thing dufferent is that i put on a COMP that actually WORKS.



anybody got any ideas? is it the thermocouple? or just bad wiring?



oh... have had the gauge for over a year... ... . TIA gang

I can tell you exactly what the problem is. I had several EGT gauges that did the same thing... and autometer replaced them free of charge.



On the older style gauges there was a little black box in which all of the wires connect to. Well. . to tell you the truth that box is bad.



Autometer finally went to a better style gauge in which the probe and power hook directly to the back of the gauge. Call them up. . they should help you out.

Yep! I had a brand new out of the box Autometer do the same thing. Sent it back and they replaced it. Box was bad. Good to hear they have changed to a better type. When this one takes a dump I'll know what to do.

I had the same problem towing a rental

28' travel trailer to Kerrville last year. The

EGT gauge would basically quit when I

kept the EGT's up towing on a long hill

with my Edge 3 light box on level 1. It

has not done it since then. I forgot all

about it since I don't tow that much

weight all the time.



Made me at the time, since it

quit working when I REALLY NEEDED IT!
