I went to my local Dodge dealer yesterday to price/order the SRT-10 pillar for my rig and during the discussion he asked why and I told him I wanted to install an EGT gauge so I could monitor the exhaust temp. He told me that ANY mod to the motor would totally void the warranty. I was kind of under the assumption that this kind of "mod" was relatively minor. Have any of you heard of this? It kind of set me back and now am having second thoughts if I should have this install done.

Feedback or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jack

I think that fellow is full of bull ****. Down here they would never say anything like that. I would suggest you find another dealer.

First off, he is in NO position to Void your warranty! To have a Warranty voided, it has to be in writing, and has to come directly from the manufacturer.

The bottom line on your gauge... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Don't worry about it! It will not Void your warranty!

Go back to the dealer and find that guy and tell him Logan from TDR said to shut up and that he is stupid, there is an idiot like that at the dealer I go through and I told him he was stupid to his face when I had warranty work on my 02 done. He tried to tell me that my air box had been modified somehow when I had a turbo replaced... . He was an idiot and just a service writer so he didnt know what the hell he was talking about. Oh yeah the air box was bone stock w/ Mopar filter also...

The only part that would not be covered under warranty is where you drill and tap. I drilled and tapped my exhaust manifold (pre-turbo), so if the manifold developed a crack from where I drilled it I would not expect DC to pick up the tab. For that guy to spout off some crap like he did is simply being completely uninformed. I don't know how you can work in a service department anywhere and not know the facts inside and out. But this is the way it is and that's why the TDR is such a valuable resource. Find a new dealership, and by all means install that gauge.

Thanks y'all for your replies. I'm going for it. Any suggestions/procedures on where I should place the EGT probe?

Thanks again,

Jack

That's a real can of worms right there. Almost like asking what oil is the best to run in the CTD. There are good arguments for both post and pre turbo installs. It all comes down to personal preference, I went pre-turbo so I could get the hottest readings possible.

J Graham. I had my install og SRT 10 and DiProcal EGT done about two weeks ago. Looks fantastic and works perfectly. Here are some of my suggestions. When removing the original A pillar use fine mecanics pics and gently pry up the plastic covers. You will need to save these for your new a pillar. I used a small flat blade srew driver to remove the plastic covers from old a pillar. Also try to find a small plastic trim removers, mecanics at local dealer may even alow you to use theirs. You will need to pry front portion of dash up and remove small plastic cover on side of dash. The one your door covers when closed. Doing th above helps create room so no scratches will occur. There is also two small plastic locating clips you nee to gently pry up on A pillar once you have removed bolts holding a pillar in . Then to remove it is a simple up and back toward you motion. I have a 6spd and we removed small gromet for hood release and fed egt wire through there. We cable tied main wiring harness. Drilling exhuast manifold was done as in instructions. We used 5/8 inch from center and 2 inches from turbo flange. Secure a right angle drill and go nice and slow. also find small t handle tap set. My friend and I decided to lower turbo 4 bolts. This creates about 2 inches of room. we then used 200 mile tape and covered hole and also placed a small piece of cardboard on top of tape. As we drilled we blew any filings away with an air hose. I can not recall exactly the color wire we used for power for guage. Mine does not dim but I never dim my gauges any ways. Good luck and sorry if i confused you.
