Hey all, I have an Autometer EGT guage and it works great, except when I turn on the lights. It flickers for a few seconds and then goes dead. If I dim my dash lights to off, it comes back on.

The place where I had it installed said it was fine, but changed the power source to a different line in the steering column. Has anyone experienced this? Is it the guage, or some other problem. The other guages I have work great with no problems.

I like the idea of having the guages work when the lights are on and the ability of dimming them, but maybe there isn't enough voltage to power the guage and the lights. Could the heat from the light inside of the guage cause a problem?

Hopefully, some of you have had this similar problem, and were able to correct it.

Never that problem...

I wired them myself and I am pretty sure the power for the guage and the lights are separate. So there should be no corelation between them. I wonder if they hooked them up wrong?

I guess it happened after they changed the wiring as well? Maybe Autometer could help. When you find out what it was please post the solution. I, as well as others, would like to know if there is a problem with the Autometer guages.

When the guage was new I noticed it would "stick" sometimes and then jump like 50 degrees or so from time to time. But it seems to have gone away. I figured it was the needle sticking after having set in storage for so long.

Sorry,
