I'm installing an EGT gauge and was wondering if it is alright to drill and tap the exhaust manifold right before it hooks to the turbo. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Don't want to learn the hard way. :) :)

You want to come back about and inch and a half or two inches from the flange,,,,,, there is a nice flat place there,,,,,,,,, i was worried but it's pretty simple,,,,,,,,,,, drill it,,, then take a penecil sized magnet to pick the shaveing out of the manifold, then tap and repeat the magnet,,,,,, you dont now have to remove the turbo,,,,,,,,,, i didnt and had noe problem,,,,,,,,

Good Luck

Your manifold is webbed so you want to make sure you get it in the right spot. Trust me I stared at that SOB for an hour before I could get up the nerve to drill the hole. Good luck.

you'll have to put it off center to one side or the other since the exhaust manifold is split. Since ur going before the turbo make sure you get all the drill shavings out of the manifold because it can damage the blades on the exhaust turbine.
