A friend of mine has a 98' 12 valve 3500 2wd with 4. 10 gears that I believe may have a problem with the Isspro EGT gauge... What I am looking for here you're opinions on this issue... Backround on truck is stock plate slid all the way forward, I installed gauges for him. Last Saturday he pulled a large load of hay, and when i say large that is really an understatement. Pulled load to feedlot, and just for curiosity they put it on the scale, it weighed in at 59180lbs. The truck pulled this load at 60 mph, with the highest reading on the egt gauge being 1300 degrees on a hill, highest boost reading during this time was 40lbs . Unloaded gauge won't go over 900 degree, at 80 mph... I have told him something doesn't sound right with the reading on his gauge. What do ya'll think?

If he doesn't have a GSK, then that could be true. Has it ever gotten over 1300 F? I had a 10 plate in my truck and at times i couldn't hit 1300 pulling. That was with a 16 cm housing though. If you want, maybe you he could find a buddy that is willing to swap gauges just for a trial.

this truck pulls hard, he mntioned he could let off the pedal just slightly while pulling and Egt would only be at 1100 degrees. I have seen mentioned many times on here before, that one should get an EGT gauge before sliding the stock plate, because of temp issues when pulling... Like I said I installed these gauges for him, and I remember that on initial startup after installt he egt gauge never moved for over 10 seconds, I suspected false readings from the very beginning, but maybe it's just me. I have the same gauges, I don't really feel like pulling mine out to try in his, but I may have to. I do know that when I start my truck, the gauge rises a little almost immediately, and his doesn't.

I would think that if he could only get the gauge to 900 empty than I could easly see 1300 with that much of a load, has he pulled anything a little less heavy to see what happens.
