Before i screw my manifold up, read a few posts on here about problems with egt probe length. I've got the instructions from Geno's on where to drill, but the probe i have is for an Edge Insight (made by Edge). The measured length from the end of the fitting that screws into the manifold to tip of probe is 1", and its 2" from tip of probe to collar of fitting. I know the whole thing won't screw in (at least it didn't on my 01; got about half before it tightend up real good), so going with a max penetration of 1 1/2", will that be good enough? Want to make sure I won't hit anything, but then again, i don't want it deep down in a port straight off the valve.
Also, on my 01 5. 9, i located the probe between the #5 and #6 cylinder because i was told that if a piston was to self destruct due to heat, those two are the prime candidates due to them being the furthest from the radiator / water pump. Does this still hold true for the 6. 7L, or does it really matter?
Thanks.
