My 2006 3500 has the EGT probe after the turbo. I was told it need to be in the ex manifold! Where do I drill & tap in this manifold?? Don't wount to hit a web or ??

In the aft half of the collector is the best spot. There is a separator between the halves, so don't hit it.

Both places on this manifold will work, but where the pyro is in the collector is best.

AH64ID did you drill and tap the manifold with the turbo on the manifold or did you take the turbo off so metal chips did not go into the turbo.

I did it with the turbo installed... Drilling the manifold is one of those things that if you ask 10 people you'll get 10 different "correct" ways to do it...

This is how I did it. .

Use SHARP drill bits. Drill a small pilot hole, if you do this with a sharp bit at the proper speed the metal comes off in nearly 1 piece. Same with the big hole (don't recall whats needed for a 1/8" NPT tap), but sharp and proper speed means larger, and fewer, chips. Tap it. Then I put a vacuum to the hole (not sure if it did anything). Then i put very low pressure into the hole... Installed the probe and started the truck. The way I see it, any chips that are left will get blown thru the turbo before the turbine rpms increase to a point where they will cause damage as the chips go thru. .

Of all the other recommended methods I think the grease idea is the worst. For this reason, some grease and some chips will stay on the inside of the manifold. When you start the truck the grease will stay there until it gets hot enough to melt, by this point the turbine wheel is spinning at idle rpm and the heavy grease laden chips have a much larger chance of causing damage as the go thru.

I did mine in the same location as AH64ID. I drilled mine while the truck was running. Like AH64ID, my small hole came off in one piece. My large hole came off in three pieces. When the third piece came off, the exhaust blew it away from the manifold. This worked good for me.

AH64ID THANKS My after turbo Pyrometer probe or gauge has stopped working so I have a new pre turbo Pyrometer gauge on order . I will be drilling the manifold soon. THANKS again AH64ID

On Genos web site, under "gauge installation tips" are very good instructions with photos.
When installing my gauges, I called Genos, told them the gauges I wanted, and to send me what I needed to install them. They did just that with great service. Their sales people will answer any questions.
