I am about to install EGT Pyrometer on my 93 d350,need your expertise on mounting probe, pre-turbo or post turbo(in exhaust pipe)? Thanks

I just put a pyrometer on my 91. I put it before the turbo in the exhaust manifold. You pull the turbo and drill a 7/16' hole the get a 1/4" NPT tap and tap it out the hole. I stuffed a bunch of rags into the exhaust manifold so I wouldn't get all the shavings in there and I also ran a magnet around the inside of the maifold when I was done to make sure I got all the shavings out. You may want to put some WD-40 on the turbo bolts before you start just to help get those rascals off. I have read that putting the probe pre-turbo gives you your most accurate reading. If you decide to put it in pre turbo, make sure you look inside the exhaust manifold and recognize where the support bridge is so you don't drill through it. Your probe should be offset to one side or the other of the support bridge.
