Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EGT probe

I just installed a new EGT probe. This time I installed it deeper into the exaust manifold. My EGT's are about 100*-150* higher now. Can the probe be installed to deep? What is the correct depth to install it.

You want the end of the probe to "hang out" in about the middle of the entire depth. You want it protrude past the fitting that you tapped for but not touching the other side either.

I know thats pretty vague. I eyeball measured it to make sure I wasnt touching the other side.
