I have done a search, looked at the FAQ's, I just want to know what the EGT's should be for different situations. I have mounted my probe POST turbo, as I was afraid to drill and tap the manifold. What is an acceptable shut down temp. ? What is the max temp I could run before I have a meltdown ?I thank all in advance who reply:D
 
According to ISSPRO (and most other people), the post turbo temp should be 300F or less prior to shutdown.



Not sure about the maximum temp post turbo. Pre-turbo I believe Cummins says 1200 is max?? If that's true, subtract a few hundred degrees and that would be a rule of thumb for post-turbo.
 
As long as your truck is stock, you won't have any problems. I have mine mounted post-turbo as well. I use the 100* per 10 lbs of boost rule. If I have 30 lbs of boost, I add 300* to what my pyro is reading. Most will tell you there is ~300* difference between the pre and post. It's pretty close.

For those of you with EGT gauges, how long does it typically take the turbo temp to come down to 300 or less after pulling off the highway unloaded and parking?
 
Normally after running at ~70 for 1. 25 hours and getting off the highway, sitting at the light and the end of the ramp and then going . 5 miles to the office it's down to 300 by the time I get there. So to answer your question, I think pretty quick if you are running emtpy. When pulling it takes longer since everything is heated up, but hten still only a manner of minutes.
