I had an EGT guage before any other modifications on my 06. I can tell you the EGT reached 1020 degrees post turbo while towing at GCVW of 22,000 lbs up an 8% grade. That is the upper limit for me and I geuss thats where dodge pegged it during their testing of these trucks.

I've seen mine only as high as 1250 pre-turbo. Thats with the edge juice/attitude. Without knowing the actual high temp capability I don't know for sure whats too hot for this engine. But, I've been told that you don't want to hit 1400 sustained. I've been told the engine can handle 1400 for brief periods.

Ive reached 1400 pre turbo on an 8% grade towing a 15,500 lb 5th wheel. This was on my bone stock 03 305 hp with a large AFE filter. This was on the higher 3000+rpm range where the turbo cant let the gasses out fast enough. I let off on the throttle to let the egt's drop a bit and held it at 1300 for a minute or two. They do get HOT stock!!

Mine will hit 1450 pre turbo easily w/ 4 horse trailer. I let off as soon as it happens. Hauling hay this weekend, I kept it around 1200 to 1300 the whole trip (45 miles) with no ill effects.
