EGT thermocouple install question

Should I use a thread sealing compound on the threads of the 1/8 NPT adapter that goes into the exhaust manifold?

Will the compound accept 1300 degrees? I used anti-seize goo.

You should use the anti-seize compound for the pyro. The two metals will literally bond together without it.

Permatex makes a super high temp anti sieze (1,600 degrees i think). If you cant find it locally, ill send it to you if you need it, let me know

Well, I wish mine would bond together! My AutoMeter pyro has to be re-tightened every now and then, both the crimp connector and the 1/8 fitting keep working their way loose...

There is always liquid weld. Perhaps that's not a bad idea?

I would not want to use anything permanent (If thats what liquid weld is, similar to JB WELD?). If you ever need to remove the Thermocouple it will be a pain in the A$$.

Sometimes the type of tap used will cause them to loosen up. If you used a bottoming tap, the taper is not there to help the seal. A normally tapered tap will seal pretty good, especially with a little antiseize around it. EMD is right tho, don't make it permanent. Even with antiseize on my 98, I almost never got the probe out of the manifold.

To keep fitting or probe in place , use a small sharp punch one or two punches next to fitting to tighten(move metal) and one punch to crimp thread should do it. P. S this is called ,staking.
