Guys

I have a question, I am having high egt's when towing heavy on grades.

I have a Jacobs brake fron DC on the turbo and was wondering if

a 4" exhaust would help or not with this set up? I seem to recall

if you go to a larger exhaust you need a larger ebrake?

TIA

Kirk

No, you can keep the Jacobs with most of the 4" systems, they just neck it down a little at the Jake. Works great, mine never gets over 1000 even with 10K strapped on the back. Do it, you will love it.

Look at my signature. I can still achieve high EGTs. Anytime you hop these trucks up, you risk high EGTs.

Kirk,

Fill out your signature so we can see what you are driving. Makes it easier to give accurate advice...

I recently installed a 4" Magnaflow exhaust (thanks Rip) and a bhaf and noticed a good drop in peak egt's while pulling steep grades. I went with the Magnaflow because of its near stock sound levels.

For a driving tip, watch your rpm's on the grades. If the egt's are getting hot, down shift. I usually downshift to 5th (above 2000 rpm) to keep things in order on the really long steep 6% grades. Before the upgrades I was downshifting for most grades. ]
