O. K. guys Im not as advanced as some of you so forgive my stupid question. Does it seem the egt's on these CR motors just goes up like mad??? I pulled a big hill today under moderate to heavy throttle ( only 27 deg out today ) and my egt's went right to 1250* This is with my edge EZ box ON LEVEL ONE

:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: What do I do when Im towing a trailer up this hill when the air outside is hotter than "H" , what do I do when I hook to the sled this summer???? Do I just leter ride and see where it goes??? Whats too much, when do I start melting things down??? What do you guys with 100 plus horsepower boxes do???

You need boost! 1250 degrees is not big deal on a 2005 truck. I would not worry until 1450-1500 or so. My truck completely stock will hit around 1350! That is with a 100% stock exhaust and intake as well. I would not go over about 1450 for any length of time.

What was your boost?

When my stock "plastic" intercooler went, I was only getting about 10 lbs boost max, and it made my EGT temps go crazy.

Boost around 24-26 will go to 30 then right back down to hover around 28psi

I want the banks techni-cooler "kit" but am saving for transmission upgrades first

I have noticed that it is more difficult for my truck to reach high egt now that I have about 10 more lbs of boost available to me. Just today I left my foot in it up a 14% grade all the way up to 100mph and was seeing 1240*. Before my box it would climb allot quicker. I didn,t see the 1240* until close to the top of the grade.

Just another thought about your high EGT;

Downshift to get the RPM up and more flow. My 04 really likes the RPM around 2,200 when under load. The difference in EGT at 2,200 vs 1,800 RPM is significant.
