I am planning on putting my truck on the dyno in the next couple of weeks to see what it can do. I normally limit the EGTs (with the Hot Juice) to 1350. There is definitely some back-down on level 5 (as much as 15-20%). I was wondering what you guys think is an acceptable EGT limit for this relatively short period of time on the dyno (as to maximize my runs)?

Thanks for the input,

- Jason

I turn off all backdowns when I dyno. On the dyno my EGTs never really got as high as normal driving since there is no load(at least on a dynojet). With the IIPS turbo I doubt that you would see excessive EGTs anyway. Even if you hit 1500* for a few seconds it should not do any damage. I have dyno's my truck 6 or 7 times and when I watch my EGTs are a couple hundred degrees cooler than on the road or drag strip. Just my . 02

FROM LAST DYNODAY IN KC,MO:

TOM: - So John, What was your EGT on your white 03 Dodge (on the 527hp run)?

JOhn: - EGT? Really high, I think... Dont know, Never look :-laf

hahaha- Really though, the run is so short I would have to hit something stupid to melt anything - I hit 1790* and . 5 seconds after I lifted off the throttle it was like 800*

No worries, Just turn it off

Before sliding the plate and adding the 191s, I was seeing a max of 1200* on the road. Hit around 16-1700* on the dyno on the 1/4 mile run. The numbers stop at 1500* on the pyro.

I think the turbo was part of it. Couldn't build as much boost as I can on the road.

I used to see 1600 plus regularly just screwing around, so I think your good. Heck, in Vegas for May Madness I was pegged at 1600 the last half of the last half of the race. Load dynos I got hot, dyno jets only us a 2000 lb roller, and there is minimal load, so temps are better. Also, if you haven't upgraded a slipping trans yet, a dynojet will show you a higher number than a load dyno because it doesn't force a load on the truck so the trans won't slip. Happened in Vegas. My roomates 05 slipped terribly but it didn't on the dyno. Good luck with your runs!
