Hey all, was curious for those that have big power and running twins what kinda EGT's are you seeing when you are into the loud pedal deep. If you could list your EGT highs and your engine bombs that would be great. Getting ready to add supermentals to my setup here and thinking twins might be the only way to get useable power out of the showerheads and fueling box. Any words of wisdom that have done the deed would be greatly appreciated.

See signature for upgrades. I have an Edge box with some pretty hot timing and fueling, but on 5x5 I see a max of about 1300, maybe a little warmer depending on the day but not by much. Without the box on just the injectors 1000. Fred

Twins

I don't think there is any question that twins are the way to go for BIG power. Just look at the recent results Piers posted.

At the same time, the big boost numbers will keep your egts much lower then a single turbo, assuming you are not limiting the boost to an exceptionely low figure to protect the head gasket. An example would be that a truck with #90 of boost is going to register lower egts then the same truck with #60 assuming the turbos are close to the map etc.

To satisfy your request for specific egts I would site MADDOG's truck which makes nearly 800 rwhp on diesel and only runs 1425* on the pyro! That's pretty good and it's done with a good twin system running about 90psi. Plus, he can tow over 10,000 pounds with it and be under control with the temps!!!Oo.

Twins are real nice and are the way to go but there is a catch to it... . greed, we all do it! When I built my set I was at 450 HP and drove it for 6 months and did nothing to the truck... . nothing! Then I changed the Twins up a bit, put a custom plate and laser cut DV's in and jumped to 525 ish then added more to 600 ish and now at 694 and I'll tell the maintenance went 5 fold to keep it going..... some big stuff lots of little stuff at real high power levels... . just keep that in mind. 450-500 hp is easy to do and keep up with.

Great Post Jim! I am on the twinz bandwagon and first will be o ringing the block and replacing the head with a stage 2 beforehand to get ready for the twins. Yep Lil issues will allways be at hand thats for sure!
