I tow 2 trailers (5th whl & Sandrail)with my Ram. I am looking for a rheostat to install on the brake wire for the second trailer, to keep the brakes from locking up, since it is much lighter than the 5th wheel - Any body got any ideas or know where I can get such an item? I know in the "old days" of hydraulic brake controllers they used such a device quite often...

Thanks Illflem,

I am aware of that, perhaps I did not explain fully... Need to reduce voltage level to second trailer without affecting the first (wired one behind the other, front to back), so controller gain won't do it... But my brain finally engaged today and I remembered a place that would probably know what I was talking about... Sure enough, although not in stock, they were able to order a "resistor block", which looks like a small coil spring with a slide device on it, and you just move the slide for more or less voltage! Thanks anyway for your reply!

I didn't realize you were pulling doubles, thought you meant two separate trailers. Sounds like you have it under control. It's going to take bit of adjusting, running back and forth to get it right. Since you will be running with a pretty much fixed weight it will be a one time adjustment though. I don't envy your load, will you even be able to see your buggy back there?
