Assuming you're talking about trailer brakes

Tekonsha Prodigy http://www.bargman.com/tekcat/prodigy.html or

Jordan http://www.jordanbrake.com/ would be my pick

Install is easy, finding a good place for the controller can be fun on a dash where every space is taken. Beware of the wire colors, many times they don't match up same color to same color even though the wires on both sides are the same colors. Must be an easier way to say that!

I just changed out my Kelsey brake controller to a Jordan Ultima today. I can't address the road experience yet but can reaffirm illflem's comments on the wire color code. The wire colors are not standardized and they MUST be connected according to function. Jordan's instructions are clear and easy to follow.

I did have a slight problem in orienting the brake pulling cable but that was my own choosing in trying to hide it behind the dash along with the wiring. My original positioning resulted in too many turns and I felt the friction between the cable and the casing was too great and might interfere with the free movement needed for proper coordinated braking. I pulled the cable out from behind the dash and ran it in front of the dash in a more gradual and direct manner. The cable moves freely now and will work as Jordan designed it.

Jammer, I'm very interested in the Jordon setup you have. Can you give me a model number and what the cost was? Can I buy it on-line?

Thanks,

Scotty

Prairie Dog: I'm sorry, I did not see your post until tonight and did not get a TDR message either when you placed the post.

The Jordan Brake Controller is identified as 2020 Ultima. I purchased it back on 12 JUN 2002 via a direct purchase to the company at 1-800-533-0306. It was TDR group purchase for $99. 00, including shipping. Jordan answered the phone himself which I think is a very positive factor. I have not seen a negative comment about him and the reports have been very favorable when someone needed advise.

I believe I saw current group purchase somewhere recently but am not sure where it was. It could have been on one of the RV web sites; perhaps RV. Net.com.

Jammer and TowPro, thank you VERY much for the info. I had called every RV supply outfit in my area and none of them had even heard of Jordon or the engineering it uses.

I will buy one direct from them before the start of camping season next year.

Again thanks, you've made things easy for me! :D
