No clutch, and also close to 100% torque at 0 rpm. Let's see a diesel do that! Talk to EKlem on here. He built an electric Ford Ranger that will blow the doors off of almost anything out there. 19hp and 1480 ft-lbs (he's also blown up 3 transmissions, 3 rear ends and noodled a drive shaft).

There is no question in my mind.....electric is the

Ummm... they only last for about a year as it is now.

Been there, done that - on my electric pickup, a set of golf cart batteries are good for about 10 to 15K miles of driving, before they die off to the point I can't get any useable range out of them.

In other words, $1500 or more for a new battery pack each year. Even at $5/gallon, my '87 MB diesel eats $1200/year in fuel.

$30/week at the pump, or $1500 in one shot at the battery supplier - take your pick.

You mean to tell me John Wayland is STILL racing that same car 12 years on? I was at PIR in '96 first time he raced it and did a burnout - freaked everyone out as no one had seen an electric with enough power before that to do a burnout. I've still got a copy of the video on VHS that he gave me. Got those tires so hot he left liquid melted rubber in the burnout pit.
