Has anyone had trouble with the electric seat adjustment motors? I have one position adjuster button that does not work. It is the one just in front of the lumbar buttons on a 98. 5, I think it firms the seat, can't remember for sure. When the toggle switch is pushed up or down it makes a very brief noise as though the motor wants to run but can't, like something is jammed in the gear or something. Dodge wants $105. 00 to "look at it". The local truck upholsterer will repack the foam in the seat tomorrow and have a look at the problem but he tells me Dodge wants $1200. 00 for the assembly and one motor cannot be bought. Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone have the same seat for parts? Thanks for the help

Best bet is to try a salvage yard, unless you don't mind paying the dealer upwards of $400 for the part, that's when I checked about 3 years ago so who knows what they want now if its even available. It's a whole assembly = 3 motors and frame. No they don't sell separate and I've tried and can't find anyone that does. I've been dealing with mine for years now, the up/down for the rear of the seat died, now the front/back is acting up, I think the up/down for the front of the seat still works?

Thanks for the reply Joe, I had the seat padding re-stuffed today (2nd time) the guy found the spring-suspended wire frame thingy (I don't know what the thing is called) that keeps ones butt from pushing down through the seat frame was also broken. He saved the broken parts, 4 springs and a wire frame mechanism, so that I might have a chance to find one. I have been all over the inter net but no luck. He replaced it with a piece of plywood which is a bit firm. I guess I need to find a seat and scavenge it for parts. Everyone I know has found the Dodge driver seat to be a poor lasting assembly of the truck, so we are not alone.

Steve I think bmoeller was jokingly referring to the type seats big rigs have.

If not, please tell us more :-laf

One of the gear boxes failed on my seat rack that moves it forward and back . I took it off and moved the seat to the position i wanted and put a small c clamp to hold it in place and unplugged the power . The wrecking yard wants 350 dollars for the rack . I did notice in a catalog called Surplus Center ,they have a 12 volt motor that has drives on both side that uses speedometer cables . Thats the same drive the motor uses on my 96 to run the seat for and aft . Arnie

you guys may get a chuckle out of this but air ride seats are the bomb we run them in the boats. . you can adjust them to any ride conditions you have... go by any big truck store and try them out you will dig them... only deal is there not cheap. guys with bad backs will really like them

peace.

Sorry Steve - I stand corrected - learn something every day. Impressive - how much just for the seat mount?
