Chrysler announces LIFETIME powertrain warranty!

Anyone out there try the Flex-a-lite electric fans on there turbo diesel? They claim better fuel mileage and hp gains. What concerns me is they don't advise one if pulling over 18K gross combine weight and make no mention if you have added fueling to your engine. Would the electric fan cool a dodge enough or are you better off with the factory fan? My truck is stock:{for now but plan to add some goodies, don't need it melting down.

Hi Robert, there have been quite a few threads on the subject (mostly in 2nd Gen truck and 3rd Gen truck forums) but the general consensus is stick with the stock fan. Since it has a clutch and doesn't fully engage until needed it really doesn't rob much HP or cost you much of a MPG penalty. But it can move a whole lot more air than any electrics can when you do need the cooling. I think someone posted the stocker moves 8800 CFM when the clutch fully engages. What some guys do though is add an electric over the AC condenser to come on when the AC is turned on to help performance in stop & go traffic.

yeah, that's one thing my truck needs is an extra electric fan for A/C. it's cold as ice while at 35mph+, anything less it's warm.

I have the kit on my 2002, first I had a Horton, when the clutch went I bought the Flexlite kit, paid $525. 00 at my local Lee's Auto. I love the kit. At 100 degrees it has never gone over 190-200, A/C is better than ever! When truck is shut off fans run (when hot out) for about one minute. This prevents boil over and cools engine compartment. Option to have switch's in cab to turn fans off or on manually. I will for winter. Quality kit that goes on fast!
