I was wodering if anyone has installed an electric sliding rear window in their CTD?

I will be getting for free and was wondering if it is something I could do myself or will it require professionals. I know on some trucks that the rear window are held in by glue like your windshield but others are just pressure fit.

It's best to have the glass shop do the physical install of the glass. It's one of those bonded-on jobs. You can do the routing of the cable, mounting of the motor and the wiring yourself. I assume it's a C. R. Laurence window. I have one and it's pretty neat. The cable rattles sometimes.

Yep, it is a CR Lawrence window.

That is interesting that the cable rattle. I will also have to do something about the cell phone cable. luckily it is not a bore through antennae, rather it sticks on and gets its signal through the glass between the interior and exterior antennae.

The way to eliminate cable rattle is to pass the cable though a piece of sponge type foam with a slit cut in it. The foam should be the same thickness as the cavity the cable passes though. Use as many as you need, old packing material works well.

Unfortunately, Bill, the cable rattles inside the window frame. I've looked at it casually and it appears to be a bit of a challenge getting at it. The cable itself isn't rattling against anything. I admit to being a bit lazy about it, because it's not a major issue at this time. The only reason it rattles is that there is a driveline vibration at about 50mph that hums the cab a bit. I suspect that the pinion angle or the center bearing need attention... ... right after I get some satisfaction outa the body shop I'm dealing with regarding an impaired rear-ender I suffered a few weeks ago. Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's valid. Years ago I used foam packing on my ol' '77 Dodge van to quiet the door latch hardware. It's still there.

Mike, if you can get the cell antenna off using piano wire or fishing line, you can purchase new sticky-tape from a good cellphone or 2-way dealer. Larsen (antenna mfr. ) has kits for this.
