I finally got this bomb finished. I set the switch at 35 psi, which gives me 32-33 psi at the manifold. This was an easy mod took about 2 hours total at a cost of around $75.

My waste gate must have been creeping a bit, because now the SOP dyno says that the truck feels about like I upped the Smarty by an odd numbered SW.

I believe the MAC 35A has been superseded by the 36A which would work the same. One could also use a comparable STC solenoid valve.

The Set Up

The waste gate can bounce a little on the pressure switch when you first run up to the set pressure. I noticed my drive pressure would surge between almost 60 psi and 50 psi. Manifold boost would swing between 30 psi and 33 psi. I don't bang on the waste gate often, but if I did I think that I would put a boost elbow in to slow the response down a bit.

I ended up adding a boost elbow to my set-up. I installed it on the outlet of the solenoid valve. I believe I left the set screw at 1. 25 turns open from full closed with a little locktite to keep it there.

The performance is allot better and well worth the 30 minute effort. The drive pressure goes to the max value (50-60+ psi) with no bounces. The boost pressure goes right to 32 psi and stabilizes.
