Hi all,

I have a '92 4X4 with electric windows and doorlocks. Receintly the window switch on both the dirver and passanger sides has been acting up. Sometimes the window will roll down, sometimes not. Sometimes it will roll down but not roll up... etc. . etc...

I've taken the door module apart and cleaned the terminals and re-connected them, and it worked for a day or so, but now I'm beginning to have the same problem. My electrical skills are not that great. Any suggestions??

Thanks so much,

-Dale

I've gotten into the same thing recently , thank Gopd it wasn't on my truck, but swithes had been cleaned, replaced etc. Here is what I found that fixed them. Take off the window Motor. The grease works out of the gear box into the motor. take out the two screws that hold the motor to the gearbox and wash out the motor real good with electrical contact cleaner. make shure that you de gunk it good enough that the brushes are free. I think I even trimmed off a little piece of plastic somewhere to let the brushes slide in a little deeper for wear. They have been working new since.

When the windows are not working, check to see if your blower for the heat/air will come on. If both are not working at the same time..... try jiggling your ignition. Mine will act up when i turn the key on and while waiting for the "wait to start" light to go off, i try to roll down the windows..... when they don't go down, jiggling the ignition will fix it every time. Picked up a new iginition switch at the auto parts store for like 13. 00 just haven't taken the time to install it yet.
