I got an electrical problem I was going to dive into, then thought I'd better check and see if anyone has the same problem.

My back up light fuse keeps blowing, and when I hook up a trailer my turn signals blink real fast. I'm thinking that maybe the two could be related to a short of some sort.
At first I thought it was the trailer but everything checks out(got good grounds) and the turn signals blink fast when using other trailers I have also.
Without the trailer hooked up the turn signals blink normal. Yes I have a heavy duty flasher.

Got any ideas or tips?

Somethings warming up that turn signal relay to make it blink fast. You may want to check to see if there is continuity between the turn signal and back up lights. If those two lines are shorting (just slightly) then the BU fuse would blow because it is a pretty small fuse. On the flasher, even though it is heavy duty, it still could be weak and that would cause the quick flash.

Thanks Alan - I'll do some checking on that.
Forgot to add in the first post that I've tried two flashers and still the same.
That's what I thought it was right off the bat but not so. It could't have been that easy could it #ad

Might want to look at the trailer receptacle, probably have to remove it from the bracket at rear of truck and look at the wire connections in the back, you will have to slide it out of the cover to see them. If there is corrosion inside, it can be shorting the lights together. bg
