I was awakened this morning at 5:30 by my wife saying that my truck alarm was going off.... I went down stairs and sure enough it was. I hit unlock and it shut off. I locked it and before I got to the top of the stairs it started going off again. I went out to the truck opened it and started her up and let it run for 4-5 mins. turned it off, locked it, headed back to the house and it went off again. WTH?????

I unlocked it and left it to get ready for work. Once I was ready to leave I attempted to remote start it and thats not working now. When you hit the button twice as normal and the truck beeps once, not twice like it should and it wont start. I got in it and it says "remote start disabled" on the evic. I dropped it off at the dealer. Anyone seen this behavior before?

My 2010 challenger did the exact same thing. The WCM had failed. It would start randomly sometimes and the fob had no control. Had to leave it with Chrysler for over a month and they ended up paying that months payment (thank you Chrysler). Hopefully your dealer is more competent than mine.

One horn honk is a sign of remote start inhibit. There is an inhibit monitor in the scan tool that shows reason for inhibit.

Now that other vehicles are mentioned, I just bought a 2014 Toyota RAV4 with the premium radio with NAV, the damn thing automatically picks, up my iPhone before we get in it, and is playing my iTunes when I get in it. Because of this, I purchased the platinum extended warranty, the electronics are very scary when/if you have problems. BTW, I've only had it 4 days so I haven't had a chance to play with it and set the programming.

This just gets weirder, I opened my email today and I had uconnect notifications that the alarm on the truck went off 20 times (yes 20!) between 530 and 600 this morning. Its seems weird to me that the same thing happened yesterday at the same time, if it was really a bad sensor I wouldn't think there would be a time component to it.... thoughts?

The alarm didnt sound this morning so I guess they fixed it. They ended up replacing the hood sensor and the hood latch assembly???

They also did the following flash updates:
ABS Module
HVAC Module
DCU Module
AMP Module

Had the oil and fuel filter changed for the first time (8500 miles).

Just as a point of interest, when I got the truck back they didnt reset the oil and fuel filt monitors but I was able to figure that out :)
Driving home the truck felt differently. I checked the tire pressures which I usually keep at 65F, 80R and when they rotated the tires they didn't readjust the pressures so I had 80F and 65R.

After I fixed that she seems to be driving better, the "clunky" gear changes seem to be a less clunky and the brake seems to be a bit more responsive.

Well I thought this was fixed but the other day the alarm started going off again while I was at work. I reset it 3 times, then just left it unlocked. The other thing I noticed this time is that the window buttons were very non responsive, you literally had to hold them down for 2-3 seconds before anything would happen.

I made an appointment with the dealer for 2 days later.

I drove home (~50 miles) and by the time I got home the windows were working normally again and I was able to lock truck without the alarms going off. The remote start still wouldnt work.

The next morning I took it to the dealer to have them look at it and also the recall notice I received the previous day. I tried to remote start it in the morning and it worked. I drove to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. They did the flash (recall) and I was on my way. so far so good after 2 days.

Is anyone else having any issues with the alarm and remote start?

I have not seen this problem but did have an intermittent electrical problem myself. Dealer could never duplicate it, so I made a video
of the problem which Ram Engineers finally viewed then authorized my dealer to replace an expensive part based on my video.

Good luck.

I'll add my input to this thread. If you have the keyless entry and if the hood is open, when you go to start the truck, after the wait to start light times out, the truck will not start. The start button will be flashing and if you push it again the truck will start. If you attempt to remote start the truck, the horn will beep once and you'll get a message in the EVIC that remote start is disabled and a hood not closed message. If you want to lock the truck but not set the alarm, this is the process that I found will allow this. Lock the truck with the drivers door open either using the key fob or the power door lock switch on the drivers door. Note that all locks will lock as the key fob is outside the vehicle. Now manually unlock the drivers door by pulling up on the manual door lock knob to unlock the door. Put the key fob someplace away from you and the truck to prevent it from unlocking as it normally would when you reopen the door in a few seconds. Shut the door. (Note that the alarm light in the speedometer will be begin its fast flashing sequence even with the drivers door manually unlocked.) Immediately reopen the door before the alarm "sets". Now manually lock the drivers door by pushing the door lock knob down and shut the door. The alarm will not set, and all locks on the truck are locked. This prevents me from waking up half the campground when I open a door on my truck. Ken Irwin
