trailer safety chain vs. cable

Is this a good Deal?????

Walking behind my year old Platinum trailer last week and noticed the LED tail lights on the right side had just a bit of light in them. Got out the FLUKE meter and found that the hot 12v terminal in the plug was losing about 1/2 a volt through to the right hand tail light terminal. The inside of the plug got just a bit of moisture inside of it and the screws holding the wires wernt insulated. I installed a new plug and sprayed the rubberized electrical insulation on the screws, =no problem now. . If the running lights would have been conventional not LEDs I would have never noticed the voltage loss. This must be one of those places excess battery capacity goes. . Just a heads up to those that live in wet areas. .

I've noticed the same thing from time to time just from a little corrosion on the contacts and I don't even live in a wet climate. I think that the with the blade design and cheap plating, this is what you can expect. I've always wanted to swap it out with a military connector, but never have found the time.

Or you can use a semi truck plug witch is of the round design. I have

a Pollack blade style, gold plated. A little better than the Walmart brand.

Two months it was rusted inside at the screws. Mich. weather.
