well, today was a rainy muggy day, and i still decided to tinker around with my truck installing boost/pyro gauges. i was probing to find a dimming power source in the dash and i goofed up...

... the cubby and ashtray light i thought might be a dimmable source to tap the gauge lighting into. i was probing that connector and it was not a dimming source and i gave up on it, but my multimeter probe slipped right at the end and crossed the leads together, now i have no voltage there.

does anyone know if there is a fuseable link on that circuit or if there is another fuse panel location in the cab? [all i can find is the under hood one - my old tahoe had one in cab, one under hood] everything else seems to operate right, it is just that little cubby / ashtray light that is out.

if there is a fuse somewhere i can fix that light with i will do so, if not, it's not that big of a loss, but i sure felt like an idoit when i did that

To find the other fuse panel, open driver-side door. On the side of the dash, there is a triangle shaped cover that just snaps on.

If you are talking about the "ASH TRAY LAMP" being dead it is feed from a 10amp fuse which acorrding to the shop manual is number 32 in the fuse box. It marked as "Right Tail Lamps" in the fuse box.

that was it exactally... i guess i need to get a copy of the 2004 service manual eh [my 2003 copy doesn't list that]

odd thing though, when it first happened, i went across all the fuses with my meter checking them and they all showed up ok, but thinking back, the fuse tops were wet from the rain [i had the cover open for a little while] i guess the rain water gave me a false reading? oh well... easy fix [just need to get some of these mini fuses]

thank you...
