My 1998 Dodge Ram one ton dually, with Cummins diesel has an electrical problem. The interior light, cargo light, underhood light, outside electric mirrors, and radio have all ceased to function at the same time. The fuses in the interior fuse panel all appear to be good. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks For any Help

Dave

All those accessories are fed by the "IOD" fuse in th interior fuse panel. This is a fuse that provides power to accessories which do not go through the ignition switch. Going from memory I think it's fuse number 12. Check it carefully.

If it's blown and you replace it only to have it blow again, you likely have a short somewhere in the circuits it feeds.

A short can be easily located using special testers made for the purpose. Do a Google search on "short finder" or something similar.

Good luck,

John is right on the money on this.
I know because I just changed mine.

Put in a retractable underhood light and need to splice the wires. Wasn't thinking and cut through both wires at the same time, patched the new light in and was disappointed when it didn't work. (of course there were a lot of other lights that were not working too. )

I IOD fuse has a guard around it so you probably didn't think to pull it and check it.

I have a weird one for you guys...

The other day at work one of my friends told me I had left my wipers on. . (But I had the keys in my pocket). . !!!??

I went to my truck an the wipers were stopped about half a wipe.

I TRIED to turn them on BUT no go...

So I pulled the fuse just to make sure as not to burn some thing up or to run battary down.

I made an appointment at the dealership,,as I parked it at the lot. . I put the fuse BACK IN an it worked fine.

Dealership checked everything out an found NO ISSUES...

ANY IDEA'S

Seriously, it sounds like your ignition switch. Not the part where your key goes, but the actual switch it connects to down on the column. My wife's S10 did the same kind of spooky weirdness a year ago and that's what i had to replace.
