Electronic collar questions (for dogs, not kids!)

OK you dog guys, I need your advice. I am looking for an Ecollar for my 8 month old black lab. I understand that she needs to be pretty good on commands before using the collar as a "reinforcement". I purchased a SportDog 400 Field Trainer, but it had a range of about 10' so I took it back. Sportsmans Warehouse had no more, so now I have an opportunity to get some input. What is a good, lower priced collar? Innotek, Sportdog, etc. Any other tips would be appreciated. I'm going to have her hunting ducks and geese mostly, maybe some chukar if we get good at the waterfowl. Thanks!

Just don't do what a guy here at word did to his wifes dog.

Left the radio collar on the dog as he took him to the vet. Couldn't figure out why the dog wouldn't quit wimpering :--)

I have the Petsafe for my dog and am happy with it although the batteries are special and dont seem to last to long

I bought an Innotek collar at Bass Pro Shop a couple of years ago. I've been very happy with it. It's expandable to two dogs and you can get deluxe models that control other electronic training aids if you're into that sort of thing. I'm not, and I'm very happy with the quality of the collar, the transmitter and the feel of the unit. I can get another antenna that will extend the range to over a half a mile. He can't hear me that far out anyway.

I dont have any advice on the collar but just wanted to comment on your dog. She is beautiful! I just got a black lab at X-mas that was born on 10-15-06. He looks about the same size as your puppy. Ill post pics when I get them resized.

He'll get there! It's hard to remember how small Pepper was when we got her. I look at pictures and am amazed how fast they grow, tho' I hope she gets bigger. She's almost 60# right now, but I don't think she looks it.
