electronic gremlins

I have had problems in the past with my 2003 quad cab. First I though I had problems with the stereo and clock shutting off and turning on at random. I replaced the head unit with an Alpine unit with a direct battery connection and that's been fine. Now I'll get a quick flash on the security system light on the dash, even though I don't have that feature on my truck, and the door locks won't function on either the door switches or key fob! Start the truck and the door locks function as normal. Is this the MIC cluster reflash problem? When this happens I can't lock or unlock the truck without the key.



Like an idiot I posted this in the 911 section, so I'm reposting it here. Still have the problem after a visit to the dealer, said there's nothing about the momentary flashing of the security light in the MIC TSb. Any ideas?

Did you have that TSB performed?

No, they wouldn't do it unless it was indicated by DC to do so. Talking to the tech his response was, "we don't like to do reflashes unless absolutely necessary. " I can understand that knowing that reflashes can kill performance as well as the instrument cluster if not done "to the letter".
