As I prepare to fix my rusted and paint bubbled lower drivers door #@$%! I am looking for ways to help stop and/or slow the rusting of the rest of my truck and the future repair to the door.
I saw on Truck Universe the other day on Speed Channel that they installed a electronic rust prevention system on a truck and it looked like a pretty easy install. I understand the way it works in theory. I think the one they installed was a Counter Act system. I think there are acouple of others out there too.
I have done everything that I know to prevent the rust on my truck and actually other than the door it is in very good shape for a 8 year old Michigan truck. I have the truck Ziebart'ed too and was just in today for my year re-apply. I had the guy look at the rust and he said that it was not on the inside of the door but that it looked like it came from the seam on the bottom of the door. He also said that this is very typical. Unfourtunaly they will not cover it as there is no perforation in the actual metal, kind of like DC's rust warranty. He did however tell me that if I fix it he will re-spray the door for free before the next yearly re-apply is due (probably like 10 minutes of work and 5 dollars of product, but I'll take what ever).
Has anyone ever had any experience with these type of systems, do they actually work or are they snake oil, LOL? If they work I kind of like that fact that you could take it from one truck and put it on another.
Thanks in advance,
